It's no secret that, in many cases, old is best (like the traditional French vermouth pictured here). But, new is wonderful too! Our new wine rep with Easterly Wine, Jess, is a powerhouse of knowledge and she'll be joining us to show off some beautiful wines, most new to our shelves, this coming Thursday. See you then. Cheers!
It's been a while since we've had a good ol' disco tasting (as in discounted wine, not the music, though who knows what we'll be playing). Come by this Tuesday to try some great value driven wines, stock up for the approaching final days of summer, and have some fun with us. Cheers!
You've all been so patient. We've been preoccupied (who knew opening a restaurant would be so much work?) but we're finally hosting our first wine tasting in well over a month. Justin from National Wines will join us to show off some beautiful Italian wines. From frizzante, every so sparkling delicate white blends, to a stoney, brooding Aglianico, we've got a wide range of hand-crafted wines to share with you. Thanks, folks, so hanging in there while we get back in the rhythm of things. Cheers!
We're picky with our Cali wines, so if we showcase a whole lineup of wines from one producer, you know they're gonna be good! Terre Rouge and Easton Wines are part of the same project that produces small quantities of awesome, artisanal wines. They're located in the Shenandoah Valley in Amador County, as are their small vineyards and a few other growers from whom they source. Come check em out. Cheers!
Yes, it happens very seldom, but a winemaker is coming to Maine, and actually venturing north of Portland. Kivelstadt Cellars is fast becoming one of our favorite California wineries for their elegant and restrained wines, a departure from "traditional" Cali wine. Sam Baron, their winemaker, will be coming up to share his beautiful wines with us. It'll be a great opportunity to learn, listen, ask questions, and drink nuanced, small production wines. Cheers!
Alright alright, we've been slacking on the tastings lately, but we've got a fun one lined up for this Thursday. Someday things will be green in central Maine, and so we're showing some spring-friendly libations in anticipation of that glorious day. Wines that herald warmer days shall be drank, and we're throwing in a couple curve-ball, non-traditional offerings. This will also be our first tasting with the wonderful Hannah from Pine State!
Join us and Justin from National Wine as we explore Portuguese wine! Portuguese wines are sometimes relegated to bargain bins, discounted by many as lacking the curb appeal and complexity of wine from other regions. While it is true that there's some mediocre wine cranked out of Portugal (for a lot of reasons), vast riches await those willing to look just a little deeper into the world of Portuguese wine! You wont be disappointed. Cheers!
We'll be hosting John Bonney from Foundation Brewing and Nathan Hall from Kennebec Cider co. Foundation Brewing = beautifully made craft brews, and Kennebec = awesome, artisanal Maine hard cider! Both make for wonderful holiday food pairings, so think past wine when it comes to holiday fare and come give em a try. Cheers!
Welcome to our Tour de France (minus the athleticism). We'll be touring France via bottles of beautiful wine produced by farmers and small growers and perfectly fitted to Thanksgiving and cold weather fare! A jaunt to the Rhone, a quick trip to Loire, a stop in Bordeaux! We'll be joined by some good folks at Devenish Wines (who will likely pronounce everything far better than David and Josh). Cheers!
Join us and Sigrid from Easterly Wines as we explore Oregon! Oregon produces some beautiful wines, and a great many are small production and employ organic/natural methods. While our last tasting was driven by value wines, we're pulling out the stops here to show you some beautiful, more special occasions wines made by dedicated, small family growers...and just in time for Thanksgiving! Cheers.
This Thursday we'll be sampling some goodies in the shop, so come on by! While this won't include as many crazy deals as our famous (or infamous?) disco tastings, we will be showing wines that are awesome deals below standard markup. We bulk up this time of year, and inventory is high, so it's a good time for a tasting. See you Thursday evening!
Why is Linus looking for magic pumpkins? Anyhow, we'll be hosting a triple decker tasting of our three favorite libations with our bud Corey from Vacationland Distributors. We'll have awesome natural wines, a few craft beers, and a couple ciders! Cheers for pumpkins, falling leaves, and the wonder of fermentation
Join us and Jason from SoPo Wine Co, one of our core wine distributors, as we taste through some autumn wines! Fall may be the time for Oktoberfest, pumpkin beers, yada yada, but good hearty white wines, rose, and light reds are where it’s really at. Cheers!
Rocky Ground tasting, take 2! We had Angus and Abbey in last fall to sample their badass ciders, and we're having them back again to show us their new vintages. They use primarily wild harvested apples and allow for spontaneous fermentation with all their ciders. Long story short, their stuff is legit and uber tasty. Join us for a taste of Maine heritage!
Join us and Lisa from Devenish Wine as we take a trip to Spain. Spain has just as much to offer for quality and diversity of wines as any other wine producing nation. From the arid plateaus of Manchuela to the deep green hills of Galicia, Spain's diverse ecology and deep traditions shine through in its wine. We'll drink a bit and see for ourselves! And as is often the case, most of the wines we'll sample are either organic or biodynamic, and low intervention. Cheers!
Join us and Leigh from Wine Traditions this Friday as we taste through a selection of their fantastic French wines. Wine Traditions began in 1996 with a mission to support small, independent growers in France, and to bring their terroir-driven, culturally relevant, unique wines to the states. See you this Friday!
There are a lot of dominant trends in the world of wine, and anything that deviates from those trends can get overlooked or forgotten. But, those are some of our favorite wines! Doesn't the Broc Cellars Tasting room (pictured here) look like a half-forgotten secret? Like most things in life, if you've gotta search for it, it's usually better. Natural wine from California? Chardonnay that sees absolutely no oak? Red wine from Peloponnese? Yes please.
Scott from LLS will be here, along with Justin from National Distributors, to talk about their stellar portfolio of Italian wine. We'll taste a selection that showcases the diversity, character, and quality found in well-produced Italian wines. See you there. Cheers!
It's that time of year again. Meridians is working its way through the toddler stages, and we're now four years old! We're potty trained, getting into fights at school, all that good stuff. We'll be having an all day (hopefully) outdoor tasting including wine, beer, and we're working on something fun to provide food as well. Put it on your calendars, and come hang out.
Interested in all this hype about natural, raw, or low-intervention wine? We've always carried these pure, unadulterated wines at Meridians, but this tasting will focus entirely on juice of this caliber. And, just because, we'll crack some wild beers as well! Cheers.
Join us and the dudes from Devil's Purse out of South Dennis, MA, as we go through a couple of their core offerings and a couple hoppy specialties as well! On top of playing the hop game well, they also produce solid old world style ales like their kolsch and British ESB. Join us Friday evening to drink some beer!
Join us this Tuesday with Marcel Sabata I Coca from Castellroig, and Ricardo Esteban from Valderiz Bodega! While we often have wine distributors and sometimes importers in the shop, it's pretty rare to meet the people that work, hands on, with the wine everyday. Come hang out, drink some wine, ask the nerdy wine questions that only the real pros know the answers to. See you then.
Join us and Corey from Vacationland Distributors as we go through some of their wine and beer this Thursday. Vacationland is at the top of the game in regards to picking up awesome breweries and winery portfolios, so a sampling of their goods never disappoints. See you on Thursday. Cheers!!
The Ides of March, March Madness, in like a lion and out like a...lion. However you slice it, March is a weird month. So, this tasting is just as confusing. We're throwing some sh#t together and we hope it brightens your day as you go home to, as some of us will, continue to dig out from this last storm. Wine, vermouth, beers for both winter and spring since we're not sure which it is right now...we'll have a little bit of everything. So, come join us. Cheers!
There's a lot going on this evening, so follow me here! Chris from Crush Wines, one of our core distributors, will be here to showcase red and white wines from three different wineries. For example, we'll be sampling the red rofosco and white pinot grigio from De Stefani Vineyards, pictured here. And, we're launching a new product: CBD hemp tinctures and salves from Wild Folk Farm right here in Benton. These are 100% organic, state certified non-THC hemp products. CDB offers multiple medicinal benefits without the effects of THC (the stuff that gets ya high), so come on by to learn more. See you on Saturday!
We wont have roses, but we will have rosé wine. And we wont have chocolate, but we will have big ol' chocolatey beers! And, come on, beer and wine are way better than flowers and candy. Sigrid from Easterly Wine will also join us to discuss the elegant and lovely rosé wines she'll be showing off. There's a little something for everyone, so bring your better half, your date, or your wine and beer guzzlin' self to Meridians on Valentine's Day.
Join us and Jason from SoPo Wines as we tour six continents through wine. From California to Lebanon, we'll taste wine made by very different people from very different corners of the globe. Cheers! As always, the event is free and will run from 4PM to 7PM.
